Vacation is THE deliverer of happiness par excellence. This is the result of a survey that the online travel platform Booking.com conducted worldwide.
Germans love to plan. That is why planning a journey is of great significance as well. 40% of the Germans already plan their holidays months in advance, 6% even spend a whole year with it. Thereby the Germans top the worldwide result of 35% respectively 5%.
But why keep man themselves so happily and primarily long busy with planning their vacation? Selecting the destination already generates feelings of happiness for 72% of all interviewees. In the moment of the booking the heart of 56% of all interviewees beats even higher.
And what’s next? Anticipation, of course! After the booking the interviewed people think about their upcoming vacation once or even several times a day with pleasure. 80% love to study maps and to consider possible places of excursions. Likewise, 80% of all interviewees and even 85% of the Germans enjoy viewing pictures of the destination or accommodation. 61% like to study reviews of the planned lodging.
For 62% the joy of vacation starts when typing in the obligatory out-of-office message in their e-mail program; because finally it’s time to set off. 87% of the respondents especially feel happy on their first day of vacation. For 83% the first sight of their holiday domicile means pure felicity. 70% rejoice in arranging their holiday vacation homely (whether it is a hotel, holiday home or bed & breakfast).
Travelling generates a feeling of happiness that not even love can. Even a date, the own engagement, the own wedding or the birth of a child are classified less important than a vacation. Also material things can’t compensate the happiness caused by travelling for 70% of the interviewees.
